Here is a perfect demonstration of turning a balcony into a functional and lush garden room. On the south side is a L-shape built-in Ipé bench with storage, which wraps around into a ledge wall to create a cozy enclosure for either relaxation or entertainment. Continuing from the ledge wall are sleek custom black planters by the fence, framing the view towards the fabulous Midtown skyline. Unfolding the integrated table from the ledge wall and with some lights on, the sitting area becomes an intimate alcove for the night. A selection of hardy and low maintenance plants is implemented for the fence planters and the bench planter trellis.

And who can resist a tiered herb and vegetable garden on the wall to add even more seasonal interests to the terrace? Small space can work wonders with the proper composition of landscape elements, and the sense of bringing nature home.
