Projects

This project exploits the different qualities of three spaces on the roof of a building on Fifth Avenue, across from Central Park. The largest terrace in the back, the communal area, immerses its users in various landscapes using distinct ground textures, plant species, and seating options. A selection of vines and tall trees along with elevated planters and a pergola envelope the space with greenery. An integrated water feature gives an auditive break from the city’s cacophony and amplifies a feeling of relaxation.  The central fresco by a contemporary French artist ties the space together as it unfolds from the wall to wrap around the various surfaces of the terrace.

The smaller two front terraces offer more intimate experiences, while overlooking Central Park. A cozy hammock nook with verdant plantings and artificial lawn underfoot evokes the impression that the park has hopped up to the terrace; while the other side becomes a pleasant and calming perfume garden to inhabit. The greenery utilized in these spaces blends in with the park across the street, creating a seemingly infinite garden to contemplate.
