Everlasting Terrace Garden, New York, NY
To accommodate a client’s request for a “no maintenance” garden, CDL/S implemented a planting scheme comprised of entirely UV-resistant faux vegetation, needing neither sun nor water. From the primary point of entry, a living room’s sliding door open up to a staggered composition of geometric planters counterbalanced by contemporary saucer pots. The configuration maximizes usable space for entertaining guests and enjoying sunset views west. Medium-height evergreens add a year-round warmth to the space, while preserving the panoramic city skyline views out from inside the apartment.
Outside of the bedroom entry, artificial turf was installed to create a comfy green surface to step out onto. In this cozy corner, topiary boxwood and twining vines add charm and texture. For privacy, a faux 6’ tall cypress tree and Japanese maple were erected outside a secondary bedroom terrace for screening. The result is an “everlasting” oasis that continually beckons inhabitants and guests alike to take a step outside.
