About the project

Designed for the Korean headquarters of Hamon Group, an international engineering and contracting company, this rooftop garden marks CDL/G first built project in Asia. It caps the eight-story headquarters, which is clad with the black and white geometries of British artist, Richard Long. The garden serves host to lunching employees and after hour’s corporate events. Its spatial organization accommodates such functions while giving emphasis to the sweeping view of downtown Seoul.

Custom-built cedar planters delineate the rooftop into four distinct rooms. Each room flows into the other and maintains an openness that ensures the garden’s effectiveness in accommodating larger events and groups of people. The planters are built on casters and can be moved, allowing maintenance operations to be easily performed if necessary.
