Living Roofs: West Village Co-Op Project

  • 27th July 201627/07/16

We’re thrilled that our West Village Co-Op rooftop garden can be found in the newly released book “Living Roofs,” published by TeNeues! Tucked away on page 187, author Ashley Penn describes, in detail, the features and functionalities of this green roof.

For those unfamiliar with the West Village Co-Op project, our team cleverly redesigned the rooftop to create a series of open multifunctional spaces that cater to the panoramic view of Manhattan while screening out unsightly existing air vents and pipes. A system of built-in cedar planters structure the divisions of spaces and hide mushroom vents. Tall exhaust pipes were treated with the same intermittent wrapping of cedar boards to form light posts, resulting in a mimicking of the form of the surrounding skyscrapers.
